I've had major depression for almost half of my life (I'm 22) but have recently had "with psychotic features" added to my diagnosis. I agree with this and it helps me understand what I've been going through but I also feel more alone than before bc I don't have anyone who can relate to having delusions and such. I was wondering if you know of any blogs or forums etc for ppl with some form of psychosis?
Honestly I haven’t found one blog specifically about psychosis that is a true and accurate representation of it, all the blogs I’ve found mentioning it are either completely misusing the term in a way that’s not related to mental illness at all, or falsely representing actual psychotic disorders.
I myself experienced some symptoms of psychosis (which I believe to be a feature of my depression, though my diagnosis lists it as a separate symptom I guess because it could also relate to my PTSD) and still do if I don’t take my medication every day, though admittedly it’s not a topic I broach much just because it’s not something that usually comes up, even in conversations about mental illness.
I was planning to talk about psychosis and psychotic symptoms as part of a series of “let’s talk about things no one likes to talk about" days but haven’t done so yet. Since you’ve brought to my attention that there is a great lack of discussion around this subject beyond the generic information posted on Web MD and similar sites, I will go ahead and do that in the next few days so keep an eye out.
If you or anyone else have content or stories they’d like to share on the topic please send them my way. ☺
